OHSAS 18001 - OHS Management System Implementation
In the absence of an ISO standard for occupational health and safety management systems, progressive employers around the globe have been adopting British Standards Institute OHSAS 18001 – The Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems Specification. This course explains OHSAS 18001-1999, and OHSAS 18002-2000 (the latter being the Guidelines for Implementation of OHSAS 18001 in Canadian Workplaces. In addition to covering the essentials of the specification – OHS management system elements, general requirements, OHS policy, planning, implementation and operation, checking and corrective action, and management review—we examine practical ways of integrating OHSAS 18001 with Canadian occupational Health and Safety statutory and regulatory requirements. The course also covers the relationship between OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001.
