OHS Basics for the Agricultural Sector
This course takes a broad overview of Occupational Safety & Health issues for workers within the Agricultural Sector. The course focuses on understanding and recognizing the hazards in the industry. Topics include machinery & equipment safety, manual handling and lifting, illness and injury related to pesticides, noise and hearing loss prevention, ergonomics & musculoskeletal injuries, asthma and allergies respiratory illness related to dust and mould, hazards associated with working with animals, chemical safety, carbon monoxide, working safely with tractors, traumatic occupational injuries, personal protective equipment, and preventing entrapment and suffocation by loose materials in storage bins/hoppers. Relevant aspects of the Safety and Health Act (2005) will be addressed.
