ATTENTION CERTIFIED INDUSTRIAL HYGIENISTS!

As of January 1, 2010, the American Board of Industrial Hygiene requires that Certified Industrial Hygienists and Certified Associate Industrial Hygienists accrue at least two in ethics training during each 5 year Certification Maintenance (CM) cycle. This equates to 0.33 CM points. Ethics training will count toward the minimum 10 CM points, IH Rubrics, required for the 5 year cycle. This requirement starts with those Diplomates due to recertify in the 2006-2010 CM cycle and all CM cycles thereafter.

Overview

This is a 2 hour webinar that reviews the contents of the ABIH Code of Ethics, and compares the provisions of the ABIH Code with the provisions contained in (i) the codes of ethics of other occupational hygiene professional organizations in Canada and the United Kingdom, and the (ii) codes of ethics of a professional engineering and medical regular organization. Learners are presented with a variety of ethics-oriented occupational hygiene practice scenarios, and use the webinar system polling function to express their opinions / choices in dealing with these scenarios. Using the moderator functionality of the webinar system, the instructor then facilitates group discussion of the patterns of responses to each scenario.
