Position:
Senior Consultant - Mechanical Safety Engineering
Position Type: Contract (6 months with possibility of extensions or
conversion to permanent)
Location: Markham, Ontario
Job Description and Duties: |
|
Provide professional engineering advice
to REA clients on a broad range of mechanical safety and safeguarding issues relating to
industrial machinery and process lines. Conduct compliance reviews and prepare pre-start
health and safety review reports in accordance with the Industrial Establishments
Regulation. Produce specifications and design documents for implementation of safeguarding
hardware and systems. Provide training and instruction to clients and colleagues in areas
of expertise. Liaise with regulatory authorities on behalf of clients, as warranted.
Participate in firm business development and marketing activities. |
| Required Skills and
Experience: |
|
Must be member of Professional Engineers
Ontario. Minimum educational requirement is a bachelor’s degree in mechanical or
industrial engineering. Must have 7+ years experience in one of more of the following
areas: machine design, fabrication, systems / process integration. Candidates with
mechanical safety engineering experience and extensive knowledge of relevant laws and
standards preferred. |
| Additional
Requirements: |
|
Willing to travel (several times per
week to client locations in Southern Ontario, some air travel within Canada and to the
USA). Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Detail-oriented and self-disciplined. |
| Compensation: |
|
Base salary commensurate with experience
and qualifications. Bonus scheme affords opportunity for total compensation at a level
significantly higher than typical for the engineering consulting industry. Employee
