Our 2003 training calendar has finally arrived! The calendar is available in an electronic form (via the internet or email) and hardcopy (via facsimile or mail). Call us at 1-888-rea-4-ehs for your copy of our course calendar and be sure to specify if you would like our Ontairo or Western Canada version. For those that have already made a request, you will be receiving an electronic copy soon.

Our 2003 calendar includes a few new items:

  • CLC II - OHS for Managers and Supervisors – Recently, HRDC indicated that OHS training for managers and supervisors should, at a minimum, be 8 hours in length. In response, we have revisited our CLC-II course for managers and supervisors and will be provideing the course in a one-day format in 2003. The course is still designed to meet the requirements of section 125 in CLC-II and provides managers and supervisors with a good understanding of federal OHS issues in the work place.
  • Intensive Occupational Hygiene Short Course – We have received many requests to provide this course in 2003, so for the upcoming year, we have scheduled this unique hygiene course for May 13th to 15th, 2003. Clear your schedules and register today!
  • Mould: Identification and Control in Facilities – The presence of mould in buildings and facilities is becoming more and more common. This course has been designed to aid those who would like to learn more about identification and remediation techniques for mould contamination.
  • Early next year, we will be marketing course dates for Process and Design: Ergonomics for Industry – With the recent addition of our biomechanics specialist, we have developed this course with a focus on designing industrial equipment to prevent ergonomic injury. This course will be very helpful for any equipment designers who are looking to improve health and safety in their workplace.
  • New Discount Policy – Effective immediately, our discount policy for training courses has changed. Now, if you register 3 participants from one company all at once for the same course, you get to send one additional participant for free!

Bill C-12, which came into effect December 2000, amended the Canada Labour Code, Part II, by amending the requirements to include a Policy Health and Safety Committee for workplaces with more than 300 employees; amending the existing powers of the Health and Safety Committees; and by extending the duties of the employer – particularly in relation to the protection of third parties. Also among those duties is an obligation to "ensure that employees who have supervisory or managerial responsibilities are adequately trained in health and safety and informed of their responsibilities that they have".

In response, REA has developed two courses designed to help employers subject to the Canada Labour Code, Part II meet these new requirements.

  • Canada Labour Code, Part II – Work Place and Policy Health and Safety Committees
  • Canada Labour Code, Part II – OH&S for Managers and Supervisors

NOTE: Courses are offered in both official languages.
