Musculoskeletal Injuries
Did you know that musculoskeletal injuries (MSIs) are one of the most common injuries in the workplace today? An MSI is an injru to muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, nerves, blood vessels, or realted soft tissue that may be caused or aggravated by work. Nearly every industry sector is susceptible to MSIs. It is little wonder that MSIs are the disease of the new millennium with our increasing reliance on computers and our aging workforce. Left untreated, MSIs can lead to long-term disability, invasive surgeries, and time off work. The WorkSafe™ course, Preventing and Investigating MSI, will provide employers and workers the knowledge and tools to prevent MSI and to conduct investigations into MSI. Register today!
Hazard Recognition
Are you familiar with all the hazards in your workplace? Are you aware that there may be hazards in your workplace that you cannot even see, touch or smell? Did you know that hazards are grouped into four categories (physical, chemical, biological and ergonomic) with each group having different control strategies? The Hazard Recognition and Control WorkSafe™ course will address all these questions. This course will be of benefit to not only joint health and safety committee members but to workers, supervisors and business operators who wish to improve health and safety performance in their workplace. Enrollment in the September 18th, 2002 is filling up so register today!

In the asbsence of an ISO standard to occupational health and safety management systems, progressive employers around the globe have been adopting British Standards Insitute OHSAS 18001 - The Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems Specifciation. In response, REA has developed two courses designed to help employers wishing to adopt this OHS Management System:

The 3-day Implementation Course will provide those participants who have decided to implement OHSAS 18001 the tools and knowledge to effectively assess / develop / consolidate their existing management system to conform with OHSAS 18001. In addition to covering the essentials of the specification, participants will understand practical ways of integrating OHSAS 18001 with Canadian Occupational Health and Safety statutory and regulatory requirements, and the relationship between OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 is also covered.
